Carol Cooke AM PLY
An Inspiration on and off the Track
Carole Cooke is an inspiring figure whose journey exemplifies resilience, determination, and the power of a positive mindset.
Starting her career as a police officer in Toronto, Carole moved to Australia and faced a life-changing diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1998. Despite this, she embarked on an incredible journey into disability sports in 2001.
Carole represented Australia in rowing at the 2009 World Championships before switching to cycling in 2011. She is now a three-time Paralympian and a nine-time World Champion in Para Cycling.
Carole’s achievements are remarkable. She founded the 24 Hour Mega Swim in 2001, raising $11 million to date, and has won multiple medals at the Paralympics, including two golds at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2014, Carole is also a published author and motivational speaker. Her story encourages us to face our fears and believe in ourselves, embodying RIAC’s core values of empowerment and advocacy.
Carole’s presence and words inspire us every day, reminding us that with courage and belief, no challenge is too great.
