Introducing the Self-Care Hub: Supporting Carers in Greater Bendigo!

by | 29 Aug, 2023 | News, RIAC

RIAC has started a new and exciting initiative to support carers in the Greater Bendigo Area!

We understand that caring for a child with a disability can be exhausting and sometimes overwhelming. To support the mental and emotional well-being of parents and carers, we have launched a self-care hub, where carers and parents can spend a couple of hours each month enjoying self-care activities that increase the feel-good brain chemicals that reduce anxiety and increase happiness and feelings of reward and motivation.

The Hub offers activities such as crafts, drawing/adult colouring, kinetic sand, a book exchange, and regular visits from a local massage therapist (bookings required for the massage therapist).

  • When: 10am – 12 noon on the first Thursday of each month
  • Where: Strathdale Community Centre, 155 Crook Street, Strathdale

If you are a parent or carer of a child under the age of 18 who lives with disability, mental ill-health, or neurodiversity, living in the Greater Bendigo area, we invite you to drop in and check out what is on offer.

At present the Hub is only available in Bendigo, however, we hope to expand this initiative to Castlemaine, Kerang, and Echuca in the coming months.
