The NDIS continues to rollout throughout Victoria. RIAC has now been in Barwon doing NDIS appeals and advocacy since the beginning of the trial. The number of appeals by participants has been steadily increasing over the years and we are now finding an increasing number of people needing advocacy and support to appeal decisions made by the NDIS. We have a great deal of experience and understanding of the system and can support people to have their voices heard and have their needs met.

We have had over 30 cases that appealed decisions made by the NDIS. Some of the reasons for challenges have been eligibility, plans not meeting the needs of people, transport issues, equipment and much more. With RIAC’s support many of these issues have been resolved either through direct advocacy or through the AAT appeal system in the conciliation process or through a hearing.

Recently we were asked to also do the NDIS appeals in both Lodden and the Central Highlands which encompasses a very large area stretching from Bacchus Marsh to Ballarat and Ararat, through to Bendigo and Campaspe Shires. These areas begin to rollout in January and May of next year.

We look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Please don’t hesitate to contact RIAC if when you transition to the NDIS you are not happy with your plan or need support to appeal decisions through the AAT. We can also support you to go through the internal review process though the NDIA which is the first step for people in the appeals process.
