Shout Out, Shepparton Self Advocacy Group and RIAC in partnership with the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre held the ‘Been Heard Through Art Exhibition’ on the 20th of April 2017, at the Mooroopna HUB.

It was great to see so many members of the Greater Shepparton and Mooroopna community attend the exhibition. We had so many amazing pictures and sculptures, completed through medium of painting, and drawing. All of the spectacular art works were accomplished by people that have a disability.

This was the first time that the event was able to be held, due to the group gaining a local council grant.

Mandy and I, would like to take this opportunity to thank the judge Paul whom travelled from Melbourne to attend the evening, Lord Mayor of Shepparton, Dinny Adems whom opened the art exhibition for us, and Mark Tomkins whom closed the event. Also a huge thankyou to Brett for being our entertainment, as he sang country and western songs that were truly enjoyed by all.

We would also like to congratulate all our winners, in particular Brad whose entry received first prize.  We would also like to encourage those that did not win to re-enter next year, and those who did not enter to please join us next year celebrating art!

We are looking to run the exhibition again in 2018 and are looking to the community to offer themes for the 2018 exhibition. If any ideas are forthcoming please e-mail athenap@riac.org.au or call Mandy or Athena on (03) 5822 1944
